Not looking to miss out on a rising star, the 49ers Enterprises have now reportedly sent Leeds United officials to join the race in pursuit of a rising star in Scottish football, who has attracted plenty of interest as of late.

Leeds know all about trying to keep hold of a future star, of course, having failed to prevent Archie Gray’s exit to Tottenham Hotspur in a summer full of exits a few months ago. Now, they’ll want to flip the script and land a young sensation of their own in the transfer market.

Those at Elland Road are in a strong position to convince reinforcements too, given that they now sit top of the Championship in the early race for title glory and subsequent promotion.

When the January transfer window arrives, the Yorkshire club have the opportunity to welcome the additions that could all but seal promotion to the Premier League, before then turning their attention towards future stars for Daniel Farke’s side.

According to Graeme Bailey for The Boot Room, the 49ers have now sent Leeds officials to join the race for Lennon Miller, who has been priced at a minimum £5m by Motherwell as they look to at least benefit from the Scottish sensation’s potential exit.

Those at Elland Road aren’t the only ones interested, however. In fact, a whole host of English clubs are reportedly chasing Miller’s signature, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Championship rivals Sunderland. With that said, it could be an impressive coup if Leeds managed to welcome the 18-year-old midfielder.

A player who may make up for Gray’s exit, Leeds should go all out to sign Miller if they’re given the opportunity when 2025 arrives.

Injuries to midfielders Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev caused quite the headache for Farke, although Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have been brilliant in their absence. A situation which highlighted Leeds’ lack of depth in the middle of the park at the time, Miller’s arrival wouldn’t just be one for the future.

The teenager has starred in Motherwell’s senior side this season, reaching four goals and four assists to prove that he no longer belongs in academy football. Now, he looks destined for his biggest move yet.

As a result of his continued rise over the last year or so, Miller has attracted plenty of interest and praise, with most of that coming from Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell, who told reporters as relayed by The Herald earlier this year: “I just think he is a really exciting talent. If he was playing at one of the other clubs I would be waxing lyrical about him as well because I do get excited when you see really good footballers in Scotland.

“It’s brilliant for us all to market and sell the product and the brand in this country. I am absolutely delighted that I feel we have got one of the top guys at his age and somebody that I believe can go on and have a real, real good future in the game.”

Ipswich Town fans knew the Premier League was going to be tough this season, but they might not have realised just how tough it was going to be.

Despite impressive results against Aston Villa, Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur, Kieran McKenna’s side find themselves down in 18th place and four points off safety.

The last month or so has been particularly brutal for the Tractor Boys, but they have the perfect opportunity to bounce back with a relegation six-pointer against Wolverhampton Wanderers later today.

Moreover, while the Suffolk side will have to turn around their recent form, they’re blessed with an exciting star who’d walk into the Wolves team, a start McKenna has to start.

Ipswich's recent form

Things were starting to look up for Ipswich either side of the most recent international break, as they picked up their first win at the expense of Spurs just before and then earned an impressive point at home against United in the first game back.

However, in the three games since then, things have not quite worked out for McKenna’s side.

For example, they lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest courtesy of a Chris Wood penalty given away by Sammie Szmodics.

They followed that up with a dreary 1-0 defeat at home to fellow relegation candidates Crystal Palace a few days later.

Worst of all, it looked like the team had turned a corner last weekend and that the Portman Road crowd were going to see their first win of the season when they were leading Bournemouth 1-0 for the vast majority of the game, only for the Cherries to score in the 87th and 95th minute to leave the home side stunned.

In short, the team desperately needs a positive result this afternoon, and to ensure they have the best chance of getting it, McKenna must start a player who’d waltz into this Wolves side.

So, it should probably come as no surprise that the player we are talking about is, of course, Liam Delap.

The “incredible” young forward, as former manager Pep Guardiola dubbed him, has been brilliant for Ipswich this season, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 15 league appearances while also being a focal point for the rest of his team to play around.

Now, you could argue that Wolves’ starting striker Jørgen Strand Larsen might have something to say about this, as he has a slightly better haul of six goals and two assists in as many appearances, even if he has played more minutes.

However, while the Norwegian is certainly an exciting player to watch and someone capable of forging a career in the top flight, he is not on the same level as the Winchester-born dynamo, and we can see that by looking at their underlying numbers.

For example, in the vast majority of relevant metrics, it’s the Tractor Boys’ marksman who comes out ahead, metrics including but not limited to non-penalty expected goals plus assists, actual non-penalty goals, progressive passes and carries, successful take-ons, shots and shot-creating actions, all per 90.

Ultimately, while Delap has not necessarily been at his very best in the last few weeks, his quality and ability are undeniable.

Therefore, if McKenna wants to give Ipswich the best chance of stopping their current slide and picking up their second win, he has to start the Englishman.

At the Ageas Bowl, he produced a flawless new ball spell on his way to 3 for 24. Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali continued his excellent start at Lancashire with 5 for 45, with Nick Gubbins’ 101 not out saving Hampshire after they had slumped to 40 for 5. Lancashire reached the close 37 for 1, 209 runs in arrears.On the day Stokes was announced as England men’s Test captain, Anderson produced a casting tape of his best attributes. A reminder, if one is ever needed when you have 640 Test wickets, ahead of the upcoming series with New Zealand. Not that Stokes or Key asked for (or needed) one having made their intentions clear.Inviting Anderson to bowl first on a green-tinged pitch under silvery skies is asking for trouble, but Hampshire did just that and predictably lost their top order cheaply. Anderson was at his controlling best in a first six-over spell which found brisk nibble in both directions.After Tom Bailey had dismissed Joe Weatherley with an in-out set-up, Ian Holland pushed forward on one which held its fifth-stump line, while James Vince was bereft by a sharp in-ducker which resulted in an lbw decision. Hampshire needed a partnership. They got one through the pugnaciousness of Gubbins and Felix Organ, who put on 92 either side of lunch. Gubbins spent a portion of his winter playing in Zimbabwe’s Logan Cup – scoring a century in two matches – and had begun his Championship season with a handful of starts and a 69 last week versus Kent. He was forced to temper his usual approach to churn to fifty in 133 balls.Anderson returned to direct some short balls at Organ, who having negotiated a series of bumpers, tamely lobbed a top edge to leg slip for 42, before Keith Barker looped a leading-edge off Hasan.James Fuller juxtaposed Gubbins by upping the tempo with his biffing and bottom-handed shot-making. He was 37 off 19 balls at one point, before slowing slightly to a 49-ball fifty, during an 83-run stand with Gubbins.Gubbins reached his second century for Hampshire since arriving last summer, and the 12th of his first-class career, in 210 balls. The Premier League leaders have been near indomitable this season though have dropped points in successive top-flight matches, and Spurs will be confident that their attacking play can overpower Slot’s drilled and dynamic team.

Of course, any hint of a blunder must be immediately snuffed out, for Mohamed Salah is playing some of the best football of his storied career and will pounce on the slightest opening.

It will be a tough task stifling him, for the Egypt star is set to be up against both of Spurs’ first-choice defensive axis, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, with the centre-backs out until the New Year with injuries.

Destiny Udogie missed out in midweek with a setback but is expected to reclaim his place at left-back from Djed Spence, and though the Italian hasn’t been at his best this term, there’s no question that his athleticism and power could prove to be a thorn in Salah’s side.

Tottenham need an answer, and that’s not just from a defensive standpoint. He didn’t start against the Red Devils, but Brennan Johnson should certainly be unleashed from the outset against Liverpool.

Liverpool have a brilliant strikeforce but Tottenham’s frontline isn’t exactly shoddy. Today’s hosts have already scored 36 goals in the Premier League this term, whereas the Merseysiders have 31, albeit having played a game less.

Johnson has been a massive plus in this regard, unlocking a new level to his finishing and posting ten goals from 22 matches in all competitions this season.

Curiously, this means that the 23-year-old has already doubled his tally from last season, having played 16 matches fewer. It’s no wonder Ange has hailed his “great vein of form” this season, but then the Australian manager isn’t the only one.

Indeed, content creator HLTCO waxed lyrical about the Wales international’s qualities during the 2023/24 campaign, saying:

“Brennan Johnson is such an exciting player to watch. He’s got frightening pace and directness; constantly looking to make something happen, it must be an absolute nightmare to defend against him.”

Salah will be hungry for goals but so too will Spurs’ attacking members. Heung-min Son is sure to reprise his spot on the left flank, while Dominic Solanke will have a point to prove at number nine, having been sold by Liverpool during his younger years.

Bukayo Saka is the only player to have created more (19) than Son’s 12 big chances in the Premier League this year, suggesting that the South Korean will mix his output but maintain an emphasis on providing for his fellow forwards.

The fluency between Tottenham’s attacking aces bodes well for the squad’s chances against the Redmen. Solanke and Johnson in particular could combine wonderfully to send the visitors packing.

As per FBref, Solanke ranks among the top 16% of Premier League forwards this season for successful take-ons and the top 10% for goal-creating actions per 90, making an interesting comment on the dynamic style that convinced Daniel Levy to fork out a club-record £65m sum for the 27-year-old.

With a brace against United on Thursday, Solanke’s tally is up to nine goals and four assists from 22 appearances this season, but his quality is more indefinable than that of goal contributions.

His movement, hold-up play, and deceptive creativity are exactly why Tottenham paid for his signature, with reporter George Sessions further backing this up by describing him as a “pressing monster.”

And therein lies the link to Johnson. By applying pressure on the Liverpool backline, Solanke can create spaces for Johnson, darting through the lines and entering promising positions from which Alisson’s goal can be peppered.

The right winger will be eager to get his name on the score sheet this afternoon, sure, but he will also provide energy to stretch the likes of Robertson and negate the electricity of Luis Diaz, who will be forced to drop back and deal with his positional rival.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have demonstrated attacking skills this season and defensive fragilities, and there’s perhaps a consideration that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be in for a barnstormer.

For all the promise around Postecoglou’s project, it’s important to remember that the Lilywhites are currently tenth in the divisional standings and with only one win across their past four top-flight fixtures.

Johnson’s performance could be key. With Salah in their side, Liverpool won’t be short of power. Fire must be met with fire.

وتعادل الأهلي مع صن داونز، سلبيًا، في إطار مواجهة الذهاب لمباريات دور نصف النهائي من بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا، على أن تكون مباراة العودة والحسم في القاهرة يوم الجمعة 25 أبريل.

وقال صالح خلال تصريحات عبر قناة “الأهلي”: “لا بد أن نشيد بأداء كولر اليوم، من جهة الإعداد الجيد للاعبين قبل المباراة، ومن جهة التشكيل المناسب”.

وأضاف: “كولر اختار النهج المناسب، صحيح هو تخلى عن أول ربع ساعة من المباراة بحذر مُبالغ فيه، ولكن هذا كان مطلوبًا حتى لا يتلقى الفريق هدفًا في البداية يؤثر على الناحية النفسية وتكون الخسارة، لكن أستطيع أن أقول إنها مباراة أهلاوية خالية من الأخطاء الفنية، سواء من جهة التشكيل أو من جهة إدارة المباراة أو من خلال التغييرات”.

وتابع: “أداء الأهلي في الشوط الأول كان مُبالغًا في الحذر، ربع ساعة خارج السيطرة، ربع ساعة مضغوطين، ولكن بعد ذلك حدث التحول السريع وظهور المهارات الفردية والثقة في تمرير الكرة، واللعب بمبدأ الأمان في المواقف الصعبة بالتشتيت وهذا ليس عيب في كرة القدم، وبدأت بصمة الأهلي تظهر في الملعب من خلال تصويبات ومحاولات جادة، يُشكر عليها إمام عاشور الذي بذل مجهودًا كبيرًا خاصة في الشوط الأول، لدرجة أننا خشينا عليه من الإجهاد والإصابة، ولكن واضح إن الناحية النفسية للفريق جيدة”.

وواصل: “مهم جدًا الإعداد النفسي للمباراة، سفر الكابتن محمود الخطيب معهم كان مهمًا جدًا، قرار سليم منه وهذا الدور الذي عودنا عليه، ولم يُعاند كولر في هذه المباراة، ووضع اللاعب المناسب في المكان المناسب، في بعض المباريات السابقة كان يقلق من تغيير نجم معين، لكن اليوم لم يكن عنده أي تردد”.

وأكمل: “الخط الدفاعي بثلاثة قلوب دفاع كانت مناسبة جدًا، صن داونز لم يستطع كسر خط الدفاع الأهلاوي الصلب طوال الـ90 دقيقة، كلها كانت تصويبات عشوائية لا تجعلنا نقلق أو نتوقع إنهم يسجلون هدف، وحتى لو كان دخل مرمانا هدف كان ممكن نعوضه”.

وأتم: “نتيجة جيدة وإذ كنا حققنا الفوز بهدف كانت ستكون أفضل، لكن صن داونز لا تأمنه، النقطة المتخوفين منها إن الخروج بالتعادل لن يؤثر على صن داونز، لأن لديهم الإصرار والعزيمة لأنهم اعتادوا بأنهم يقدموا أداءً جيدًا في استاد القاهرة”.
