قرر الجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر الأولمبي منح شارة قيادة الفراعنة في أولمبياد طوكيو لمحمد صلاح المحترف المصري بصفوف فريق ليفربول الإنجليزي.

وعلم بطولات، أن الجهاز الفني اتفق على إعطاء الشارة لمحمد صلاح، على أن يُرتب الجهاز الفني القائد الثاني والثالث من بين الثنائي الذي سيتم استدعائه مع صلاح “ثنائي فوق السن”، وذلك على حساب رمضان صبحي قائد الفريق في بطولة إفريقيا الأخيرة.

Unai Emery has been speaking about Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe ahead of Arsenal’s match against Burnley, as reported on the club’s official channels.

What did he say?

During the press conference, Emery spoke about attacking duo Saka and Pepe, discussing the progress they have made under him this season.

He started off by complimenting the teenager for his performances: “We know we are taking one responsibility with the young players, but the young players need one process to achieve that responsibility and their performance in the team, but we are helping them.

“For example, it’s very good news for me about how we are improving Bukayo Saka, but he needs to play, play and play to take more confidence and experience to achieve his future we think he has.”

While there was also an appreciation for how Pepe has done, the comments seemed more reserved from the Spaniard when speaking about the record signing: “Pepe is coming, but with Pepe it’s also an adaptation that he’s doing little-by-little better, but also he needs more because it’s not easy for him.”

Comparison of the two

Pepe is the man who has had a greater impact of the pair, but the fact that Saka is being spoken about in a similar way to the Ivorian shows just how well the 18-year-old is currently doing.

While Pepe outdoes the Englishman in each of the above categories, it can be said that Saka is the one exceeding expectations.

Both players have been helped by the Europa League this campaign, with the teenager having got a goal and assist against Eintracht Frankfurt, while Pepe has 2 goals and 2 assists from the ties against Vitoria de Guimaraes.

There could eventually be a battle between the pair for places in the side, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top if it does come to that.

The fact no fee was parted with for Saka alleviates the weight of pressure from his shoulders in comparison with £72m Pepe, and that could ultimately influence Emery’s assessment of the two players.

Indeed, the suggestion that Saka’s development is “very good news” suggests he is meeting or even exceeding his manager’s expectations.

With the Leicester game a must-win for Arsenal, by Emery’s own admission, it could be telling to see who he puts his trust into.

وأضاف: “معظم الأندية وافقت على ضغط المباريات ولعب مواجهات في فترة توقف المنتخب الأولمبي، وتم الاتفاق على ضغط مباريات الدوري والانتهاء منه يوم 15 أغسطس”.

وأتم: “اتحاد الكرة أخطرنا بأن هناك اتجاهًا من الكاف لتأجيل مباريات التصفيات المؤهلة لكأس العالم في شهر يونيو وهذا سيتيح وقت أكبر للعب المباريات”.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are cooking up some transfer activity during this international break as The Athletic correspondent Tim Spiers has claimed that the club have signed a new player.

But his spell was not really as successful and he only lasted for 28 games before getting sacked and replaced.

And now, months after his initial departure, Solari seems to be making a grand return to Real Madrid but this time, not as a coach anymore.

According to Cadena SER, he will now assume the role of an ambassador of the club and upon seeing this piece of news, many Madridistas were actually pretty happy about it.

Solari seems to be someone who they still like despite his failed spell at the club all those months ago.

After making 246 appearances for the Sky Blues and helping to secure their first trophies under the Sheikh Mansour era, Micah Richards has now revealed what it was like coming through the academy and who he looked up to at the club.

Before a niggling knee injury cut his career short, Richards was considered one of the most dynamic full-backs in the Premier League – especially during his early to middle years at City, with the Englishman grabbing the most assists by a defender in the 2011/2012 season.

However, like all up and coming stars, he had to first march his way through the academy set up for a chance in the first team, eventually getting the nod from Stuart Pearce to make his debut in the FA Cup against Aston Villa – a moment the Citizens cult hero is very unlikely to forget.

The travelling fans at Villa park that evening erupted into euphoria when Richards climbed highest to head home a last minute equaliser.

Speaking to Bwin as part of their ‘The Season Ahead’ series, Richards detailed the journey up to that pivotal point in his career, and who he idolised most on the way up.

“My earliest memories of playing football were probably just down the park with my friends,” explained the 31-year-old. “That’s when you enjoy football the most.”

“As soon as I went from academy to first team training, Richard Dunne was always a person I looked up to, he was consistent. He won Player of the Year four years in a row, that’s unheard of nowadays.”

Indeed, Dunne was a colossal figure for the Sky Blues at that time, mostly partnering Sylvain Distin in the centre of defence and helping to keep a then-struggling City side in England’s top flight.

When Distin left the City of Manchester Stadium for Everton, Richards was then chosen to partner their Irish captain ahead of Sven Goran Eriksson’s only season in charge at the club, with new signing Vedran Corluka put into his preferred right-back slot.

As a result, the Englishman’s impressive form – including a Man of the Match display in City’s 1-0 home win over bitter rivals Manchester United – resulted in him being tipped for glory. He would go on to win a Premier League title and an FA Cup with City, etching his name into club folklore.

Phil Jones was named in the starting line-up against Sheffield United for the first time in the Premier League this season, and some fans were encouraged by his inclusion.

He is a player often much maligned and mocked by some supporters, and he has seen his importance to the team decline under Solskjaer, who has added Harry Maguire in the summer and also picked youngster Alex Tuanzabe ahead of him.
