Key Information about The Den

The Den, previously known as The New Den, is the home of Millwall Football Club. The 20,146 all-seater stadium is located in Bermondsey of south-east London and is adjacent to the South London railway, just a quarter of a mile from The Old Den which it replaced back in 1993.

The Den is Millwall’s sixth stadium they have occupied throughout their history and it has four famous stands; the Dockers Stand, the Cold Blow Lane stand, the Barry Kitchener Stand, and the North Stand which is allocated for visiting away supporters.

A history of The Den

The Den was built in place of its predecessor and was among the first new all-seater stadiums in England to comply with the Taylor report. Chairman Reg Burr deemed The Old Den as not being feasible to develop into an all-seater stadium, therefore in 1990, he announced plans to relocate to a newly built stadium in the Senegal Fields area in south Bermondsey. The original plans for the stadium stated that the capacity would be around 25,000 to 30,000; however, the club opted to wait so the capacity was kept just over the 20,000 which stands today.

After 83 years, the Lions moved to the new Den, and this was the first new stadium constructed for a professional football team in London since 1937. The Den opened on 4 August 1993, and hosted its first friendly game against Sporting Lisbon which the Lions lost 2-1.

Millwall have experienced many ups and downs in The Den. The first season in their new stadium saw them finish third in Division One which was their highest finish since relegation from the top flight in 1990.

The Lions never actually made it back up to the newly formed Premier League whilst playing at The Den, and in 1996 they were relegated down to Division Two (League One). Millwall finally enjoyed some success at The Den as they claimed the Division Two title at the start of the new millennium. Since then, the Lions have battled between League One and the Championship where they are currently competing.

In October 2019, Millwall were granted permission to prepare their own development plans in order to expand their stadium. In February 2020, the Lions announced that a phased expansion of The Den would begin, and this includes the addition of upper tiers behind the existing seats, which would gradually increase the ground’s capacity to 34,000 seats.

Tickets to Watch Millwall at The Den

Adult season tickets for The Den range from £360-450, over 62s and 18-21s from £220, under 18s from £25-175 depending on age – for adults this works out to be just over £15 per game.

Single tickets are up for sale through Millwall’s website, by phone or in person at the Millwall Ticket Office, and there is a good chance that you will be able to purchase the tickets you desire.

Tickets are priced at £23 for adults, £16 for 65s and over and under 22s, £10 for under-19s and just £5 for under-13s.

According to The Sun, Tottenham are interested in luring Norwich defender Ben Godfrey to north London this summer.

What’s the word?

Jose Mourinho’s side have had a difficult season this year, particularly defensively, with 44 goals conceded in just 32 Premier League matches.

And with the long-term futures of both Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth up in the air, it’s no surprise to hear the Lilywhites are interested in reinforcing their defence.

As per The Sun, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, Spurs have set their sights on Canaries centre-back Godfrey, who is currently valued around the £25m mark.

Despite only being 22, and playing for a side rooted towards the bottom of the Premier League table for the entire season, Godfrey has shown his leadership qualities week-in and week-out, even taking on the captain’s armband for the clashes against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

The 6 foot Godfrey has himself previously admitted to embracing the idea of being a leader, after being named captain of England’s U21s. He said: “Being made under-21s captain was such an honour. I do see myself as a leader. I don’t know why. I enjoy being captain of the team and, with or without the armband, I’d be the same but it’s such a good feeling to lead out your country.”

With Spurs struggling to keep things tight defensively, and on the verge of losing an experienced character in Vertonghen, bringing in someone like Godfrey who seems like such a natural fit to the role, makes a lot of sense. And with the Canaries likely to go down, Daniel Levy has the perfect chance to take advantage and sign him up.

Mourinho could very well find his next leader a la John Terry in Godfrey.

Carlo Ancelotti is about to embark on his first summer transfer window as Everton manager, and to nobody’s surprise, the Italian seems to be approaching it with a lot of ambition.

The three-time Champions League-winning manager is used to working with the best of the best throughout his career, and he’s reportedly now interested in signing a striker who netted 39 goals in all competitions last term.

Indeed, 90Min are reporting that the Merseyside outfit are interested in Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, and on face value, it’s impossible to not get excited about a player who has just won Serie A’s Golden Boot and the European Golden Shoe.

However, this needs to be approached with at least a pinch of salt.

Signing strikers is a funny business, and goals in one league doesn’t always translate over to the English top-flight.

If it were that simple, Everton would already have a finisher they could rely on with Sandro Ramirez joining the club after netting 14 La Liga goals for Malaga before joining the club.

Of course, 36 is a lot more than 14, but we’ve seen players flop after putting up those types of numbers before with Afonso Alves, who scored just 10 in 42 for Middlesbrough after netting 45 in 38 in his final two seasons in the Netherlands.

Even in terms of European Golden Shoe winners, they’re not always guaranteed to be successful in the Premier League.

Mario Jardel won two of those awards while in Portugal, but he failed to score a single league goal for Bolton, joining the Trotters at 29 years of age.

Diego Forlan also won two Golden Shoes as well, but at Manchester United he never looked like a competent striker, scoring just 10 goals in 63 league appearances for the Red Devils.

Immobile has already proven that he may not be cut out for playing outside of Serie A, scoring just five goals in 32 league games during his spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.

Whether that’s due to homesickness or not being suited to the pace and intensity of other leagues is up for debate, but the point still stands that he’s flopped abroad before, and Everton shouldn’t hang all their hopes on someone who may not be able to do it in the Premier League.

وأوضح نادي بيراميدز خلال إعلانه عن التعاقد مع اللاعب صاحب الـ31 عامًا لمدة موسمين، إذ ينتهي تعاقده 2023.

ويمتلك لاعب الوسط رصيدًا كبيرًا من المباريات، حيث لعب في الدوري المصري الممتاز 179 مباراة سجل خلالها 8 أهداف وصنع 10 أهداف أخرى، كما لعب كذلك 13 مباراة في بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا، بجانب 11 مباراة أخرى في بطولة كأس مصر، سجل فيها 4 أهداف وصنع هدفًا وحيدًا.

Coventry City have been joined by Birmingham City in the race to sign Kayden Jackson from Ipswich Town, according to Football Insider.

After sealing the League One title and gaining automatic promotion to the Championship, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins has already made significant changes to his squad this summer.

Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta were two of the first names through the door at the club, whilst Marcel Hilssner has also been joined by former Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare and Ryan Giles.

With that recruitment, Robins has since been linked with a new arrival in the shape of Ipswich striker Jackson.

However, the Coventry boss now faces stiff competition from two Championship rivals as Stoke City and Birmingham City are both said to be keen.

Jackson, who signed for Ipswich in 2018 from Accrington Stanley, is entering the final year of his deal at Portman Road.

Talks are said to have been ongoing between the £720,000-valued striker and his current club over an option to extend his deal but it is claimed that a latest deal has been rejected.

That recent stall in talks has prompted the likes of Coventry, Stoke and Birmingham to show interest in the striker, who netted an impressive 11 goals in 32 games last season.

An interesting three-way transfer tussle is now beginning to take shape and whilst some would predict Coventry to be least favourites to sign Jackson, Robins’ excellent work at the club and the impressive summer arrivals thus far could tempt the striker to make such a move.

Birmingham and Stoke are both in desperate need for a striker and they would probably have more pulling power in terms of a financial package.
