كشف المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي نابولي، لوتشيانو سباليتي، عن أمنيته من جناح ليفربول وقائد منتخب مصر، محمد صلاح، والتي يرغب في تحقيقها قبل مباراة الغد في الجولة الأولى من دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وتحدث سباليتي عن أمنيته قبل المباراة في مؤتمره الصحفي منذ قليل، وقال: “سيكون من دواعي سرورنا أن نرى مرة أخرى محمد صلاح وأليسون هنا في إيطاليا، كنت محظوظًا بما يكفي لتدريبهما (في روما) وسأكون سعيدًا لرؤيتهما مرة أخرى في مباراة الغد”.

وأضاف: “عندما وقع أليسون لصالح ليفربول من روما، كان أحد أغلى حراس المرمى في كل العصور وعلى الرغم من ذلك، فقد أظهر قيمته، اعتقد أنه رقم 9 من حيث المقارنة في هذا المركز من حيث المكانة والشخصية والقيمة الفنية”.

Nas últimas três partidas, o Palmeiras foi vazado apenas uma vez, e de pênalti.

– Este é um jogo importante para todo mundo, e se todos fizerem o que a comissão técnica quer e aperfeiçoar, vamos conseguir jogar e não fará diferença (apesar dos desfalques). LANCE!: Qual a avaliação de vocês sobre o Santos, que não terá Lucas Lima?
Juninho: Vai ser um jogo muito difícil, cada um vai pôr seu jogo em campo, e o nosso é ir em busca da vitória a todo momento. Se a gente quer buscar nossos objetivos, temos de passar por cima desse jogo. É um jogo de seis pontos, porque o Santos tem um ponto na nossa frente, então vai decidir bastante a vida dos dois lá em cima. Será um jogo difícil e de muita tensão, porque clássico se decide em detalhes e temos de estar atentos a todas as movimentações, não importa se o Lucas Lima vai jogar ou não, eles têm jogadores para repor. Temos ausências também, vai ser um jogo complicado para os dois lados.

Tem torcedores já fazendo contas, simulações, sobre o restante do campeonato. Você está fazendo, também?
Não adianta eu fazer contas assim… claro que o torcedor vai fazer, não são só eles que estão confiantes, nós também acreditamos no nosso trabalho do dia a dia, crescemos bastante, ao natural isto vai acontecer. Não adianta pensar no último jogo do campeonato se não pensar no próximo. Então isso não vai valer de nada. Temos de pensar no próximo jogo, contra o Santos. Passando, pensar no Bahia. Tem de ir jogo a jogo, fazendo nosso melhor em campo.

Você acredita que este é o melhor momento do Palmeiras no campeonato?
Acho que é sim. Como a gente vinha de vários jogos seguidos, a comissão técnica vinha modificando bastante o elenco que vinha jogando, porque estando em três competições dificulta. Colocar um time que vai ser titular até o fim da temporada é meio difícil, então eu acredito que este seja o melhor momento, porque estamos trabalhando bastante, tem semanas cheias e nos ajuda. Estamos mostrando o resultado em campo.

Qual a importância do Edu Dracena para essa sua boa fase?
A gente sempre tem de estar conversando, não só com o Dracena, mas Luan, Antônio Carlos, o próprio Pedro (Pedrão), que subiu agora. Somos uma família, temos de estar unidos para quando precisar suprir bem uma ausência. O Edu Dracena ajuda bastante nisso, com a experiência que ele tem, uma carreira vencedora, ele tranquiliza a ansiedade para entrar em campo, o que é normal. O Edu ajuda bastante nisso e em campo também.

Houve uma conversa com Cuca para lhe comunicar que você tinha virado o titular da zaga?
Na verdade teve uma conversa antes, que é natural em todos os clubes, entre treinador e jogador. Quando um jogador sai, se você estiver bem ele provavelmente vai te manter no grupo e o que sai tem que mostrar serviço para recuperar a vaga. Foi o que aconteceu comigo. É o que falei, tem de agradecer a toda a comissão técnica, porque eu joguei contra o Coritiba e contra o Fluminense o Luan já podia voltar. Mas só que a comissão técnica me deu esta sequência. E o mais importante é que ninguém fica bravo. Eu e o Luan conversamos, provavelmente vamos jogar este jogo juntos, e isto é o mais legal de tudo, não tem rixa, todo somos uma família.

Aston Villa could capitalise on VfB Stuttgart’s need for funds in their pursuit of left-back Borna Sosa, according to German outlet Bild. 

The lowdown

The report cites ‘English transfer experts’ who claim that Steven Gerrard wants to sign Sosa in January.

Sosa has played 1,060 out of a possible 1,080 minutes in the Bundesliga so far this season.

He’s averaged 1.9 key passes, 1.4 clearances and 1.1 dribbles per game (via WhoScored).

For context, no Villa player is creating more than 1.6 chances per 90 this term.

The Croatian set-piece specialist has operated as a defensive midfielder or a left winger on 10 occasions in 2021/22, highlighting his versatility.

Journalist Ursula Vielberg writes that Stuttgart will be forced to sell players ‘in the future’ to address the effects of the pandemic.

Since it began, they’re said to have lost as much as €80million (about £67.1million).

That’s not to say Sosa will be sold for far less than he’s worth, though. He still has four years left on his deal.

The report adds that Stuttgart have yet to receive a formal approach from Villa. At this stage, it just looks to be interest.

The verdict

Sosa actually gave some insight into his own strengths and weaknesses in an interview with the official Bundesliga website.

He picked out his shooting, passing, set pieces and pace – he claimed he’s been the fastest player at all of his clubs – as his headline attributes.

But he also confessed that he could improve defensively, having focused on his attacking output as he came through the ranks.

His tally of 14 assists in 50 Bundesliga matches immediately catches the eye, but that possible weakness if something for Villa to consider before they greenlight a move.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ turnaround under their current head coach, Bruno Lage, has been quite incredible.

The Midlands club suffered a trio of defeats to mark the opening of the Portuguese’s reign as his appointment immediately looked like something of a mistake.

However, Wolves have banished nearly all of their demons from Nuno Santo’s mediocre final campaign in charge, as they sit firmly in contention for a Europa League spot.

They are more prominent in attack which has been aided by Raul Jimenez’s return and the arrival of Hwang Hee-Chan.

Sadly, one of the club’s lingering issues from 2020/21 is still very much plaguing them. That happens to be on the injury front where Pedro Neto, Jonny and Yerson Mosquera all remain long-term absentees at Molineux.

Lage confirmed on Tuesday that they will not return in December, but sadly the same eventually has befallen Willy Boly.

Wolves supporters have only caught one glimpse of the centre-back this term which came in the Carabao Cup.

Boly has felt the long-lasting impacts after previously testing positive for the ongoing pandemic and he has not been the same since.

The former Porto defender had appeared on the bench in the last few weeks but now fans will have to wait even longer to see him back in the Old Gold.

That’s because he’s been dealt a new late injury in the build-up to the Burnley clash. Unfortunately, it’s a setback that could keep him out until the New Year when he might head off to the Africa Cup of Nations, fitness depending.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Burnley, Lage revealed the news in a big blow that is likely to devastate him.

He said: “I believe, for sure, after this he’ll be back stronger, fit, to help us in the second half of the season. That’s what I want, for him — full energy to be fit to help us. Let’s see. He wants to come back as soon as possible, (and be) the Boly people know, the Boly who did very well here the past four years.”

The injury, at present, is unspecified but there is no denying how big a miss he continues to be.

If you can fault anything about Wolves this term, it’s their defence. With the likes of Boly, Mosquera, Jonny and Marcal all out, it has pillaged Lage of some pivotal options.

With that in mind, it’s hardly a surprise to see that they’ve kept just four clean sheets in the league all season.

That record would surely be improved with Boly in the team, and thus, as Wolves continue to chase European football, that goal will become an even trickier one to achieve with him on the treatment table again.

The 30-year-old has been a colossal influence on the side since joining so Lage is likely to be gutted that he’s not had an opportunity to unleash him properly.

Once again, he’ll be left scrambling around to patch together his defence when Sean Dyche’s physically imposing side arrive in the Midlands.
