Completely absurd: Reports of a Man Utd move for Mohamed Salah can’t be true

[ad_pod ]

According to Spanish outlet AS (via Sports Witness), Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah may leave the club in the summer due to differences with Jurgen Klopp, with Real Madrid ‘attentive’ to the situation.

Amazingly, if Los Blancos try to sign the forward, it is believed that Manchester United will get involved, along with Bayern Munich.

What’s the word, then?

The 26-year-old has just been crowned as a European champion, a title that he has admitted was his ‘dream’ and one that he wanted over the Premier League.

Despite that, AS believe that the Egyptian forward is open to leaving Anfield, following a strong argument with Klopp.

Has Salomon Rondon had a better season than Bobby Firmino? Matt from The Magpie Channel discusses in the video below…

But even if he is the unhappiest footballer on planet Earth, why would one of Europe’s best players join a side who have just finished sixth in the Premier League and have disarray coming out of their ears?

This absurd story cannot be true

Why would Salah sign a new five-year contract as recently as last summer, when he knew that Klopp – the supposed reason he wants out – is only halfway through a six-year contract that he signed in 2016?

Even more unfathomably, Liverpool wouldn’t allow him to join United even if the Red Devils offered a world-record fee; strengthening a direct rival – an arch-rival in fact – and losing their best player in the process simply wouldn’t happen under Michael Edwards and Klopp.

It would also completely tarnish the good relationship built up between Klopp, the players and the fanbase, who practically idolise the key figures behind their club’s success right now.

Additionally, the former Basel forward agreed a deal which had no release clause embedded in the terms, basically tying him down to the Reds and allowing them all of the power in regards to where he goes next – there is the slimmest of chances that Salah goes anywhere.

This transfer story has all the makings of a truly absurd report; even if they hated each other’s guts, United don’t have a leg to stand on in the market right now in terms of attracting the most elite players.

Salah has four more years left on his contract at Anfield and seems to be loving his football with Liverpool, who have proved as recently as Saturday that they can fulfil their players’ wishes of winning big, big titles with the club.

If this report does turn out to be true, I’ll eat my hat.

"Get it done" – Tottenham fans debate potential swoop for Maxi Gomez

[ad_pod ]

Maxi Gomez is seemingly a really hot product on the market as multiple Premier League giants are wrestling to get his signature, as per Daily Star’s most recent report.

Naturally, any sort of movement on the transfer market has Tottenham Hotspur fans all rallied up and eager to finally get a sniff at a potential purchase.

While a few of them are still sceptical about the transfer happening in the first place and have taken to social media and Twitter to express their doubts, some want Daniel Levy to make a move for the highly-rated front-man.

The fee is reported to be £43m if the release clause is to be paid by Spurs, who are apparently leading the hunt for Gomez’s services.

Of course, the media have done their part in planting the seeds of doubts in the minds of fans since Tottenham are no strangers to all kinds of links to all kinds of targets almost on a daily basis – their recent transfer history doesn’t really help, either.

You can see their mixed feelings to the potential swoop in the tweets below…

Arsenal: It’s going to take a miracle, but the Gunners can get a result over Napoli

To call tonight’s game against Napoli as the biggest match of Arsenal’s season might seem like a stretch, but it certainly feels like it.

A 2-0 win last week against the Italian giants has set the Gunners up for a brilliant opportunity to not only knock out one of the competitions biggest teams, but to establish themselves as the club to beat in the Europa League this season, but it won’t be an easy task.

Sure going into the game in Naples with two goals is a great advantage for the Gunners, but this is Arsenal we’re talking about, and mistakes are bound to happen tonight.

We have seen the club crack under the pressure of playing a big side on the road this season already, with Unai Emery’s side going from 1-0 up to 5-1 down against Liverpool in December as an example, and Arsenal will know that Napoli are almost guaranteed to get goals tonight.

Clean sheets away from home are rare for Arsenal, with their first in the Premier League coming last Monday against Watford, and this weakness on the road will lead to Emery facing an uphill battle tonight in Naples, but all is not lost.

Arsenal’s record against Italian teams is fairly good, winning against the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli in recent history and only losing twice to sides from the country, one of them being their opponents tonight.

Last season, the Gunners went to Milan the underdogs and ended up walking away as 2-0 winners at the San Siro, and although the environments between the iconic Milan stadium and the San Paolo, the history backs Arsenal to get something from Naples in their biggest game of the season.

Arsenal fans, can the Gunners progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League? Let us know!

Move it to Wembley: Leeds fans want even more tickets for Ipswich clash

[ad_pod ]

Cheeky Leeds fans on Twitter still want more despite being given a positive update on the ticket status for their final game of the season against Ipswich.

Leeds have been allocated a further 2,000 tickets on top of the 2,000 they were already given at Portman Road. Despite their allocation being almost doubled some fans still believe they need more tickets.

The final day clash could see Leeds seal a place in the Premier League for the first time since 2004 and there would be huge celebrations amongst the fanbase to mark the occasion.

The Tractor Boys have upped Leeds’ allocation already after talks with the police and safety advisors but supporters of the Yorkshire club want a larger away section to fulfil the huge demand for this game.

The Whites have historically had one of the best away followings in England and fans want as many tickets as possible so that they can witness their crowning moment. One fan on Twitter has cheekily asked for half the stadium as an allocation whilst some jokingly suggested the fixture should be moved to Wembley to meet the huge demand.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

West Ham: Manuel Pellegrini must do all he can to keep Felipe Anderson this summer

For every handful of signings West Ham, one of them sticks out way above the others, and this season that man is Felipe Anderson.

The Brazilian winger joined the east London side for a club-record fee from Lazio last summer and has been a roaring success in the Premier League, scoring eight goals and assisting four in the league this season, and a year into life in England Anderson could be ready to leave the Hammers already.

According to the Bleacher Report last week, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan will allow Anderson to leave the club for a top-six side if one of them comes in with a bid in the region of £75 million, or around £40 million more what the Hammers paid Lazio for the Brazilian international.

If an offer is to come in for Anderson, it will be tempting for the board to accept it. It will be over three times the club’s current record sale, Dimitri Payet to Marseille for £25 million, the club and manager Manuel Pellegrini must do everything they can to keep hold of their new star winger this summer.

Anderson is a player with the potential the be one of the best players in the Premier League, and if West Ham are to be ambitious and continue their development as a top team in the league, they have to be able to retain their best players.

If a club is to come in for Anderson in the summer, Pellegrini will have to ensure to his star player that West Ham is a club with a future, and that the winger can lead the club into a new era if he stays at the and fights to improve them in the table.

West Ham are a team who want to be amongst the top six in the near distant future, and with Anderson in the squad leading at the helm, that goal is a lot more realistic than if he is to leave for a league rival.

Transfer Focus: Dybala an unnecessary expense for Liverpool

[ad_pod ]

According to Italian football media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are serious about signing Juventus striker and Argentina international Paulo Dybala in the summer transfer window.

What’s the word, then?

The 25-year-old has been the subject of much speculation over his future in recent weeks.

Dybala is a versatile left-footed forward who can operate in virtually every position in the attack, be it leading the line or dropping back into attacking midfield and more, making him an attractive prospect to most teams and leading to him inevitably being mooted as a potential successor to Philippe Coutinho by some sections of the Anfield faithful.

He first arrived in Italy in 2012 after leaving his native land and Dybala’s league record since then is a mightily impressive one, standing at 212 appearances, 77 goals and 44 assists.

Liverpool don’t need a Coutinho replacement

In spite of Dybala being one of the hottest attacking properties in world football, he’s just not needed at Liverpool and that’s why Klopp shouldn’t bother with what is likely to be a very expensive pursuit.

The Reds possess arguably the best front three on the planet, comprising of the famous trio Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, not to mention strong back-up options – Daniel Sturridge, wonderkid Rhian Brewster and Divok Origi.

Now, many supporters believe that a number ten is needed to supplement this supremely-talented front three to fill the Coutinho void after he left in January 2018.

But if there’s one area the Merseysiders clearly need to strengthen this summer, it’s certainly not the attack as it’s hot on the heels of Manchester City’s as the highest scoring in the league this season.

And if Liverpool decide that in certain situations they may need to use a No.10, a new one really isn’t required with Roberto Firmino more than capable of dropping back to fill in. Klopp hasn’t utilised Xherdan Shaqiri to his full potential this season either, but the Switzerland international is another strong option for that role.

While Dybala would be a nice, fancy, crowd-pleasing addition for Liverpool, they really should be looking at a different recruitment area in the summer transfer window – chiefly, adding goals and assists to Klopp’s central, rather than attacking, midfield options.

Kenny Miller sends message to Billy Gilmour

Ex-Rangers striker Kenny Miller has sent a message to Billy Gilmour on Instagram after the starlet made his Premier League debut for Chelsea.

The 18-year-old – who was developed in the Rangers academy before Chelsea signed him for £500k in 2017 – was handed his first ever start in England’s top-flight by Frank Lampard on Sunday, lining up against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

On a day where he would’ve been afforded a mistake or two, Gilmour was instead one of the best players on the park.

Chelsea’s No.47 was handed the Man of the Match award by Alan Smith having completed more passes than any other player with 80 to his name in a near-faultless display – he ended the game with a 91.3% passing accuracy.

After full-time, Miller – who won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles with Rangers – tweeted a message of support to Gilmour following his triumphant Premier League debut.
